Newport Beach, California
Newport Shores is a community of approximately 400 single family homes located on the West side of Newport Beach. It is literally located across the street from the beach and is surrounded by a Canal which is fed by the ocean. The canal level rises along with the tide.
There are homes that are located right along Canal Street, Canal Circle and 62nd Street which are on the water. The residents that live along the water enjoy the wild life which lives in the Canal. And it is definitely varied.
There are pelicans which typically come in the winter months.
The beautiful white swan still comes to visit. There was two, and now there is only one.
There are blue and white herons, and here is one with a swan.
Sand pipers live along the Canal - the sand pipers also inhabit the beach, and they are the birds who run back and forth with the waves.
Of course there are ducks, and other waterfowl as well.
There are also racoons, possums and skunks that reside in the area. And in the early morning hours, you can hear the coyotes howl.
And of course, here is the bird dog watching all the waterfowl.

Sharon, Those photos look like postcards, they are absolutely beautiful. I can't imagine waking up to that beauty every day!
We used to love the wildlife when we lived in the Shores. My sister even brought home a duck to my mom one day when she was about 10.
Who doesn't love pictures (or a view) like that? Are there any availabilities there now? Thanks and best of luck in '09!
