The 2012 Rose Parade is an annual tradition held in Pasadena, CA. I have fond memories of the Rose Parade because it was a family tradition - on New Year's Day to get up and watch the parade. We saw it live also many times, camping out along the parade route prior to the parade. One of the funnest nights I remember was when my Dad parked his motorhome right along Colorado Boulevard, and the whole family sat on top of the motor home watching the parade.
So, to this day, I enjoy watching the Rose Parade on New Year's Day and consider it a tradition. I think the floats are so beautiful and they have evolved over the years.
This Rose Parade in Pasadena, CA will be held on January 2, 2012 and it begins at 8am. The Grand Marshall for the 2012 Rose Parade is J.R. Martinez who is a retired soldier, actor and he was recently the Dancing with the Stars champion. Enjoy watching all the floats, equestrian units and marching bands who come from all over the country. Enjoy the college comaraderie as well.
The Rose Parade this year is sponsored by Honda.
Happy New Years to you and hope you get to watch the Rose Parade and enjoy traditions in your New Year's festivities.
Wishing you a happy and healthy and prosperous 2012.
I have included this post in the December season of sharing contest, because it is an opportunity to get people together to work on the floats, watch the parade and enjoy special traditions together.

Sharon - I can only imagine how beautiful the Rose Parade floats must have been in person. What great memories to have when January 1 comes around each year. Happy New Year!
Hello Sharon:
Having lived in Mission Viejo at one point in my corporate life, I know how beautiful the weather can be on Jan 1 in So Cal and the Rose Parade to boot. Enjoy.

I will be watching the Rose Parade on New Years Day.
Good luck and success.

Hi Laura - I haven't been for about 15 years or so, but still love to watch it. The detail is incredible.
Hi Brian - Thank you and Happy New Year to you!
Hopefully the weather will hold out for this year's Rose Parade. It certainly is a tradition.
I have enjoyed watching this on TV but have yet to get there live, even though I have lived here for 6 years. Everyone I have talked with who has gone raves about it - some day, perhaps. A casual friend of mine is very involved in theplanning and organizing, including the floats.

Hi Sharon, seeing/watching/being there for the Rose Parade is the best way I know to begin the New Year. You are so fortunate to have this happen at your doorstep. Have a great holiday, Emily
Hi Lou - I love watching the Rose Parade.
Hi Jane - definitely - they deserve some sunshine and typicaly California weather.
Hi Jeff - you need to go - it is fun . .. I personally like the motorhome deal because you can watch - go inside, get warm, drink coffee, love it!! I would go again this year!
