Did it really here snow in Newport Beach? Although there are different definitions of types of snow, this white stuff really does look like snow to me. Whether or not it was graupel or hail or snow pellets, this “snow in Newport Beach” covered furniture, and the beach! It is amazing that it got that cold for it to hail, and there was enough of it to partially cover the sand. These photos were taken on Saturday, April 9, 2011 in the morning at around 6 am by a friend of mine Kirk Martin (thanks Kirk)! However, it did warm up later on Saturday, and it all melted. Over the weekend there were many beach goers who probably didn’t realize the sand was covered with white stuff earlier in the day!Did it Really Snow in Newport Beach?

HI Mike - I can't believe that it got that cold - I am sure it was probably hail but still the fact it was that cold! Amazing! My friend emailed me these photos!
HI Brett - that is a scary thought - no it was pretty cold here! I think it was snow!
Snow in April. That must have been quite some surprise.
Hi Ellie - a surprise indeed. I have seen it hail here a few years ago, but this time it stuck a little bit longer!!
Sharon,
We had snow in some parts of las vegas !!
Sharon, that is amazing! I would call it snow, we drove back from Phoenix on Saturday, and there was snow in places that I didn't think that it would snow! Weird storm!
Well Sharon that looks like snow to me and I have seen my share this year.
Isn't this weather weird. It didn't hail up here, thank goodness, but brrrrrr.
HI Nicole - that is amazing, so late in the year too!
Hi Tony and Darcy - I would call it snow also, and it was a pretty cold storm. Unusual to see snow in the sand.
Hi Kim - for sure you have seen your share this year in the mountains, it has been a cold winter.
HI Jane - yes it has been strange weather, but kind of fun that it actually dumped some white stuff at the beach!
Sharon That was undoubtedly a major event that kept the news reporters occupied for the morning until it melted
Hi Sharon,
How odd. Probably cold enough in the upper atmosphere but warm enough at ground level to melt relatively quickly.
Lisa
HI Karen - interestingly enough there was not a lot of reports about it!!
Hi Scott - I think it did melt pretty quickly. And here we are one week later and it is so warm here!!
Sharon, one time in January 1995 it snowed in Laughlin (NV) and we watched the little flakes evaporate before they hit the ground. It was wild, since we're only 500 feet above sea level! You are AT sea level so that is even wilder! Those are GREAT pictures!
Wow Candice - that is amazing to get snow in Laughlin. I have been at Lake Mead before when it snowed on the mountains, but the elevation is higher.
Very cool it looks like snow! I love the double chaise in your yard. I think I could sleep there :)
Hi Renee - this was actdually a friends house - however I have been in that double chase!! Love it!
Wow Sharon... I didn't know that it hailed in Newport, those pictures are crazy!
HI Stacey - it was unbelievable and actually melted pretty quickly!
That's incredible - I never would have believed it if you hadn't posted the pictures.
