Surf’s Up at Southern California Beaches

This week in the Newport Beach area has been glorious with warm weather and sunshine. Although the weather is supposed to change this weekend, we definitely enjoyed it while it lasted.
Last Sunday, on Valentine’s day, we took a bike ride to the Huntington Beach Pier to enjoy the beach climate and California sunshine and get some exercise at the same time. Huntington Beach is known as surf city.

This surfer below creating a fan while surfing a wave in Surf City. Looks like he is having a good time!
There were a lot of surfers out as there was a good swell on Sunday. The surfers surf right by the Huntington Beach pier, and it is a great opportunity to watch them and take some great photos. The pier was lined with observers.

Main Street in Huntington Beach was crowded with lots of people enjoying the weather and Valentines Day.
If you are looking for warm weather, you may want to consider the coastal communities in Orange County including Huntington Beach and Newport Beach, for a visit, or consider living here. If I can answer any questions about Newport Beach or Huntington Beach, please contact me.

Finally! It has been so nice having the warm weather I don't want it to change. Unfortunately we may have some rain this upcoming weekend. Hopefully everyone got out and had the chance to enjoy a little bit of the nice weather!
I hope you'll remember me if you learn of anyone moving to "The OC" and I will do the same!

Sharon, my goal is to get out there and bodysurf "The Wedge". How about another bike ride this Sunday and a few pics, it's not much further! Please?
Sharon - these are great shots. I can hear and feel the spray of the waves. Sounds like you had a marvelous outing! Our weather is doing great as well - we're just sans the ocean!!
Water looks really cold but I'm surf starved here in Florida!
Hi Sharon, these are really spectacular pictures and I always enjoy when you post local photos. Have a great weekend!
Hello Sharon, Some really excellently composed photos. What type of SLR are you going buy? Debi would be a great person to consult with prior to purchase. Several of us have taken advantage of her expertise. And BTW, remember that old expression about the house being a money pit , well, buying a good SLR is not quite like that but be prepared for wanting other lenses, and filters and just stuff like good editing software programs. It is an exciting time when you take the plunge .
Sharon! I love these photos! it's been ahile since you posted some like these, hasn't it? I never learned to surf in all my years growing up in San Diego - I think I would have loved it!!!!! Thanks for the great surf's up shots!
I'm laughing at William's comment above - you can sink a bundle real quick in this photography thing....no doubt about it!
Debi
I'm definitely gonna need to learn how to do that one of these days. . .LOL I have always been amazed at those with the capacity to do so!
Sharon - I also read William's comments, and couldn't agree more. I think William and I both decided to have what Debi is having! And, we are both locked into the book, "Nikon D90 for Dummies." I hope my nose can emerge from it really soon. . .LOL
Hi Sharon, Beautiful photos and great post. With another 6-8 inches of snow expected here tomorrow, I really enjoyed the post.
Sharon, I enjoyed your surfing pictures. Our surf is merely a ripple here in Naples on the Gulf compared to what you get on the West coast.
Sharon, what great shots....just awesome. We are all ready for the beach and summer. I love the title....calls to us all! California....it's the best!
My oldest uncle and his family moved to Huntington Beach back in early 1968. We visited them for Christmas, my first trip to California. Never dreamed that 25 years later I'd be moving to California myself.
