Giant Squid Invasion in Newport Beach
Giant Squids have become very prevalent in the waters off Newport Beach. Anglers are catching these Giant Squids. The Giant Squid on the average weigh between 20-40 pounds, and some being caught are as large as 60 pounds. There are articles and photos of fisherman holding them up, and they are several feet long! Some of these giant squid can be as large as 100 pounds.
There was a representative from Newport Landing Sportfishing told a local newspaper that anglers in Southern California area have caught approximately 400 giant squid since Friday night.
So I am not so sure now is the time to go Scuba diving in these Newport Beach waters – that would be scary to see a 60 pound giant squid!

Wow...talk about a giant calamari party. Yum
OMG! That thing is almost the size of the guy holding it up! And, did I say, YUMMY Calamari! One of my favorite dishes--however, it is one that I cannot cook so, that's one of my favorite appetizers to order out.
Have a great week...
I'm not crazy about squid, especially on my plate. This is scary!
Hi there,
Just heard about these a little earlier on the news. I don't remember ever hearing anything like this before.
That thing should be in some sort of a movie. Wow, really scary.
Now if the giant squid was behind glass at the Aquarium of the Pacific, that would be okay.
What a coincidence this is. I was just talking with my mom a short time ago, and she was telling me about this. Incredible goings on out there - These guys showing up by the millions, the sea lions leaving Pier 39 - Sounds like changes in the air....
