Whale Watching in Newport Beach, CA
If you would like to go whale watching, this is the season to consider going out on a boat to see these majestic creatures. Newport Landing is in Newport Beach and has boats which go out several times a day to see these beautiful whales. December through April is the season for Gray Whales, and it is very common to see them along their migration.
May through November provides the opportunity to see Blue Whales, and these are the whales which can get up to 80 feet. That is impressive, especially if the boat you are on is not that long.
Newport Landing's boat is called the Nautilus and has an indoor snack bar for snacks and beverages. This would be a fabulous trip to take your cameras.
Recently, we just had a local Laguna Beach paddle boarder, take his stand up paddle board out in Laguna Beach and was very close to the Orca Whales. This is very unusual and very incredible at the same time. He said they swam under his paddle board. He also said he was not afraid, but the experience must have been once in a lifetime. I have seen Rich's videos before from his paddle board experiences with gray whales, but this was amazing.
Check out this video of the Orcas in Laguna Beach. This is very rare.
Hope you enjoy the video. And if you get the opportunity to whale watch, I would highly recommend it. I have been fortunate enough to be on a yacht in Mexico and they hump backs are there with their babies.
It is an awesome experience.
