A Storm is Here
A "Blackberry Storm"
I have to admit it, I was one of those who went to the Verizon store first thing this morning - at about 6:40 am to stand in line for the Blackberry Storm. I feel like a phone groupie . . . in line for a phone??
On a good note, I met a few people in line, handed out my card to one person, and actually had an upbeat morning conversing with strangers (well they're not strangers anymore) talking about the new Storm. I even met another Realtor and it turns out our offices are in the same building. He told me to check out the YouTube video for the Storm - which I have done. We were all conversing and laughing, talking about what number we were in line (they said I was 24 - and I thought they meant my age).
I did have the sales girl shocked (and then she laughed - hysterically) when I told her I wanted to get a new Palm Treo - and she asked me - you stood in line for THAT??? I guess we all know how they feel about the Treo's now - don't we?? And I digress . . .
So the whole process took me about an hour and fifteen. Not too bad, and it turns out I got one of the last Blackberry Storms - and the others were going to get the Crackberry - I mean Blackberry Storm tomorrow.
First of all, this is completely new to me because I had a Palm Treo - maybe you've heard of that before -
a phone from . . . what century? It certainly feels like a different millennium right now!! I have been holding out for the new Storm using my Dinosaur which had a multitude of issues (like it would not hang up calls anymore and that was a little bit annoying - particularly if I am trying to call on the Q T) however, it did last it's useful life.
So far, the key pad is completely different. It is ALL TOUCH - and I don't mean touch with a stylus like with a Treo, but with your finger TIPS.(I think the iPhone has the same technology). I am used to the Treo and used my finger nails to touch the screen - completely different system here. It is pretty interesting, because you actually push on the screen and it does click (which I believe is different from the iPhone). there is a 3.2 mega-pixel camera with a flash, and you can take videos which look like very good qualtiy. You can view the phone either portrait or landscape mode which I like. The clarity on the screen is excellent - for sure way better than the Treo. It does have some cool applications, and I just set up my email and password . . . woo hoo!!! I would like to find a way to set up a shortcut for voice mail, and I think that is there as well.
Oh and BTW, my two thumb finger nails are way shorter now than they were about an hour ago - makes a big difference!!!
