All About Newport Beach

Today is Christmas Eve and I am writing this post to wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday season. I was walking around Fashion Island today enjoying the holiday and wanted to share a photo of the Fashion Island Christmas Tree.

Christmas is a time for families and friends, and am hoping that you all have a beautiful holiday season, and you will enjoy all the positive that accompanies it.

I hope you all enjoy the holiday season whether it is Christmas or Hanukkah. It is a time for us to be together with our families and our friends.

The Fashion Island Christmas tree was delivered and is now being assembled for the Fashion Island Tree Lighting Ceremony. This year the Fashion Island Christmas Tree is 90' tall, and is secured to the Palm trees surrounding it.

I find it so interesting that it is assembled, and branches are put in the tree to ensure that it is full. It will be gorgeous as it is every year, but I find the process so interesting.

The Fashion Island Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held on November 18th and 19th in Fashion Island in Newport Beach. Also, Santa's house will be open for pictures with Santa Claus!! On Friday night - November 18, 2011, the ceremony will include aDisney performance with Mickey Mouse and others from the Disneyland® Resort.

Fashion Island in Newport Beach is decorating for the holiday season in Newport Beach!! With stunning red bows on all the entrances to Fashion Island, it looks very festive.

The Balboa Island Ferry is a ferry which transports autos, pedestrians and bicycles to and from Balboa Island to the Balboa Peninsula. The Balboa Island Ferry has been in existence since 1919.

It is a short trip - literally taking just a few minutes but it is scenic just the same. Enjoy viewing the beautiful yachts in Newport Harbor as well as the stunning homes with line Balboa Island and the Balboa Peninsula.

Often times you will see sea life as well, such as seals. Also, view the Balboa Pavilion as well as the fun zone on the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach.

The Balboa Island Ferry drivers are very skilled navigating through the boat traffic especially during the busy summer months and the prevailing wind as well.

The hours of operation for the Balboa Island Ferry is as follows:

Regular Hours
Sunday through Thursday: 6:30 a.m. – 12:00 a.m.
Friday and Saturday: 6:30 a.m. – 2:00 a.m.

Summer Hours:
Daily: 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m.

So whether you are visiting Newport Beach or you reside here, take the Ferry and enjoy the ride!!

The 25th Annual Harbor Heritage Run is going to be held on October 29, 2011. There is still time to register online for the event which is a 5k around Newport Harbor High School.

Wednesday, October 26 & Friday, Oct 28, 2011
2:00-6:00 pm

Packets can be picked up by the Anchor at Newport Harbor High School - 600 Irvine Ave, Newport Beach, CA.

Come on out and support the Newport Harbor High PTA and compete in either a 5k, a 2k fun run/walk or the kid's klassic race!

Many students and their families will be participating in this event. The entrants will receive a classic event tee shirt as well! And for the top male and top female competitors, they will receive a 6 week membership to Shape Up in Corona Del Mar.

So, if you haven't registered, fill out the online registration here, or you can print out a form, and mail it in.

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure will be held on September 25, 2011 in the Fashion Island area of Newport Beach.  This is the 20th Annual Race for the Cure in Newport Beach, CA.

This is my third year running in this race, and we have a team that my daughter Morgan named for us last year "I Love My Lady Lumps" - named after the very popular Fergie song. If you would like to join our team, we would love to have you. Please visit our Susan G. Komen website, and click on join our team, and then register for the race. We will be running in the 7:30 am race.

This is our team from last year - we had 52 people sign up for our team alone, and looking forward to increasing that number!

It is quite an event and it is a 5K, and I can assure you there will be thousands of people there who are all running to raise money for the cure.
